  • We're investigating MailChimp for two reasons - email was working out as only about half the price of sending letters(!) and the editor interface isn't very good - no template where you can restrict what people can edit.

Ok, I've had a few minutes to take a look at this more closely now. I wonder if you can explain how it's working so I can get a grasp of the capabilities of this method.

How would the inbound URL look? I didn't see any specific need to have the referring page/site be on the BBNC site, is that accurate? The URL could come from anywhere so long as it has the correct query string in it right?

Yes. You can see it in action here:

  • Here's a script that will do this for you. For instructions on how to get the parsequerystring code installed see my blog entry: manypies.paulmorriss.com/2011/11/blackba...ity-redirect-to.html

It's designed to use recipient instead of fundid in the URL. It also allows the amount to be set. You'll need to find out the unique id for the "Other" option in your dropdown and put it in the code.

There's an app on the way from Shaun Sullivan, who used to be CTO for Blackbaud, but now has his own company. It may do what you want:

NetCommunity is powerful, which means complicated. Installation has been quite tricky.

With "layouts", "templates" and "pages" (containing "parts") you have to think carefully about what goes in which when setting up your site. However, once you've got that right, creating a new page and adding content isn't too bad.

Emails are easy to set up, again once you've got a template. You can send emails to a list which comes from an RE query. The email editor is fiddly, but then I've never found

Strange. I don't have this problem. What you could do is run the original install again. It should detect that it's already installed and offer you the option to repair or uninstall.

How many of those are running it on their own servers and how many are on hosting? I hit a problem with 6.35 because of our strange setup (even though Blackbaud did the original install on that particular setup) so I've had to go to 6.41 straight away.

If a lot of those are on hosting, then that just means that lots of installs on the same setup work, whereas those with different setups may hit problems.

  • paulmorriss replied to the topic Re: Facebook login and IE in the forums.
It is configured. It works fine on Firefox and Chrome. It's just a problem with IE. I got a response from Janrain when I suggested they tweak their code to better handle failure:

Our developers agreed this is a potential resolution. More research would be required to determine if this is the sole required change.
Our goal is to replace this old JS with all new JS with our updated widgets. Although the team has not ruled out making this change it is lower priority than our new code.

  • paulmorriss created a new topic Facebook login and IE in the forums.
I've upgraded to 6.35 and I'm trying out the new Facebook login feature. It doesn't work for IE8 and I've found this on the forums for Janrain, the company that provides the login widget.

This error is caused by a setting or add on in IE. Try using the Reset to Defaults option in Internet Options.

However that doesn't work for me. Has anyone else found success with the login feature, or had this
